Ren Yifei (b. 1996, Xi’an) is an art practitioner and researcher. He graduated from the Experimental Art Department of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts with a master’s degree. His research mainly focuses on social participatory art, i.e. the generation and utility of artistic practice in social space. He has initiated several community art projects in Xi’an. Rooting himself in a local community and using cooperative and participatory methods, Ren attempts to activate community life—he tries to identify problems in a community with large mobile populations and rediscover the perceptual value space within. Ren is also the co-founder of Xi’an Co-governance Space.
